Alex: The Becoming of a Bad Bitch

-In the instance that comes off a bit much, you can call me a “Tad Bitch”-

Jim Carrey, one of my idols, said that comedy is made from calamity and called it “calomedy” mine is a separate brand I like to call “traumady.” Comedy became my dearest companion as soon as I could register just how fugged up my life really was. It was a coping tool. Without it, I do not believe I would have survived.

I never spoke my jokes, never leaned into the gift I was blessed with until I became an adult…and then I had to battle imposter syndrome before finding my voice.

I had to “fake it before I make” it with everything.

When you come from a lifetime of trauma you get good at faking things. Thats how I developed borderline personality disorder. I acted the part that I needed to, I had to adjust my perspectives and actions to fit the devastating situations I was constantly experiencing.

It is that very trauma, the plethora of disordered thinking and mental illness that followed that led me into comedy.

Eating disorders, sexual assaults, childhood abuse, dysfunctional relationships, spousal abuse, PTSD, anxiety and depression, dying twice, and so many unconventional experiences have created the platform I have today. Sharing them is my healing.
